The year is coming to an end and over the holidays you have a little more free time to organize your thoughts, review successes and failures of the outgoing year and think about perspectives. Many employees are therefore concerned with their careers and a possible job change. The professional network Xing also <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.xing.com\/de\/2016\/01\/14\/forsa-studie-zeigt-jeder-dritte-liebaugelt-mit-jobwechsel-sie-auch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirms this trend<\/a>. In the new year, most then try to implement their resolutions. What plays into our hands, as an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mint-solutions.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> executive search firm specializing<\/a> in STEM professions, is a horror scenario for any boss. In addition, some employees have long since resigned internally. This is reflected in the lack of emotional attachment to the company and ultimately leads to a lack of productivity, motivation and quality of work. This leads to <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.wiwo.de\/management\/2017\/03\/22\/gallup-studie-vorgesetzte-schaedigen-die-firma-wenn-sie-das-thema-fuehrung-nicht-beherrschen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losses worth billions of euros<\/a> in the German economy. Conversely, this means that the employee would quit immediately if given a favorable opportunity.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e74b0dd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e74b0dd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Background: Why are employees dissatisfied?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-82a63e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"82a63e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The bad news is &#8211; the main responsibility for workplace dissatisfaction lies with direct supervisors. According to this year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallup.de\/183104\/engagement-index-deutschland.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallup study<\/a>, 70% of respondents said lack of appreciation, unclear goals, lack of feedback and feeling like they are just doing things by the book are reasons for quitting. Second place among the reasons for changing jobs continues to be the difficulty of reconciling work and family. Rigid work schedules, long commute times and lack of childcare support contribute to employees looking for a new employer.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8f6f53b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8f6f53b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Outlook: the situation is not hopeless.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-89ad9f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"89ad9f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The good news is &#8211; many improvements can be implemented with little effort. Provided that you, as the boss, are open to the changes.<\/p>\n<p>With regular honest feedback, praise and recognition of employees&#8217; achievements, constructive criticism and an open ear for your colleagues&#8217; problems, you can persuade one or two employees to stay with your company. Offer to work from home sometimes.
