Part 1: Smart, positive and fearless in acquisition

Coaching is unlocking a person's potential to maximize their own performance. It's helping them to learn rather than teaching them.

I also follow this principle as a performance coach in the personnel consulting firm MINT Solutions. The sales-driven business of headhunters depends on the performance of each employee. Motivating oneself on a daily basis, working with precision in order to satisfy clients and candidates are important factors for success.

There are a few simple tricks to help you reach your goals even faster. I draw many of these approaches from Tim Taxis and Anthe Heimsoeth, and today I present the first:

Recognize patterns

I recommend listening to your inner dialogue and documenting it. For example, listen to yourself in special situations (stress) and what phrases you say to yourself. Are these negative or positive? If you realize that you are not very appreciative of yourself, then this is where you start: because your thoughts unconsciously influence your actions. And if this is based on a negative focus, you should dissolve it in order to achieve success.

How to do it:

The first step is to recognize: When do negative thoughts arise? What are you saying to yourself at this moment? Because many people go into acquisition expecting exactly what they fear most: Rejection. Thoughts like “He must think I’m bothering him” or “I hope he doesn’t say NO” are the beginning of the end of acquisition success.

The task now is to interrupt this. Say STOP (out loud or quietly) as soon as a negative, blocking thought arises and bring it into the positive. Instead, tell yourself, “I haven’t sold already, so I can only win!”

Repeat this process daily, because to reprogram stored mindset you need 90 days.

This is just a sample of my coaching approaches that I pass on to my colleagues at MINT Solutions. Another point that affects good performance is the freedom and leeway that employers offer their employees. Because good numbers come from satisfied employees who pursue and implement their goals from within. Read more aboutSmart, Positive and Fearless Acquisition in my upcoming articles!
